Cucumber is famous and grown in the dry zone areas such as some parts of the north in sri lanka. Hambantota is more popular for this vegetable.

Cucumber is known to be a dish prepared for our farmers by their wives for lunch accompanied with rice. Its known as “Kamath Batha”  This vegetable is made in many ways but i give you the basic cucumber curry made as a farmers dish in the past & i am sure this is yet enjoyed by many food lovers.
Cucumber has herbal values and a drink is made out of it too. In sri lanka you can find many varieties of cucumbers.
But today i request you to try this basic recipe at your home & enjoy with your family.

  • 300 g Cucumber
  • 2 tsp chipped garlic
  • some curry leaves ( karapincha)
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 2 green chilis sliced
  • 1/2 tsp mustered
  • 1/2 tsp tumaric powder
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp fenugreek
  • 200 ml thick coconut milk


Step 1

take a clay pot,add all ingredients in to it.mixed it.

Step 2

add the coconut milk and cooked in slow fire for 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 3

add aslt and pepper and season.
