The english word of potato comes from the spanish word “Patata”. The name potato originally refers to a type of sweet potato. The potato was 1st domesticated in the region of modern day southern Peru & extreme north western Bolivia between 8000 & 5000 BCE. It has since spread around the world & become a staple crop in many countries. Potato contains vitamins & minerals as well as an assortment of phytochemicals. Potatoes are prepared skin-on or peeled, whole or cut up., with seasoning or without. The only requirement involves cooking to swell the starch granules. Most potato dishes are served hot or then again may be served cold too.
