Unimo launches Perodua Bezza in Sri Lanka

Unimo, a fully owned subsidiary of United Motors Lanka PLC, the sole authorized agent for Malaysian automobile giant, Perodua, launched its latest model Bezza in Sri Lanka recently.
Bezza is Perodua’s first sedan car, which was launched last year in Malaysia to complement the Perodua’s popular Axia hatchback.

Sri Lanka is the single largest export market for Perodua.
According to Perodua, from 1997 to 2017, a total of 14,000 units have been sold in Sri Lanka with the latest model; Perodua Axia having sold more than 1,400 units since last year. Since 1997, Perodua has exported various models to Sri Lanka – the Kancil, Kenari, Kelisa, Viva and now the latest been Bezza.

Perodua President and CEO Aminar Rashid Salleh said that Sri Lanka poses a tremendous potential for the Malaysian car models as the island’s economy expands.
“For 21 years, Unimo has being doing a splendid job to market our car models and the demand has been increasing every year. From the beginning of 2017 we are focused on expanding our exports in order to become a key regional player,” he said.
United Motors Group CEO and Executive Director Chanaka Yatawara said that the formidable partnership formed with Perodua would help to grow the brand name in the Sri Lankan market which has been well accepted since it was introduced two
decades ago.

“We believe that the Bezza will be well-accepted in Sri Lanka as this car has all the features that appeals to all; it is spacious, well-designed, fuel-efficient and versatile – a winning combination,” Yatawara said.

It was announced at the launch held at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel that the

PERODUA BEZZA 1.0L (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) IS PRICED AT RS.3.69 MILLION.

The brand was established in 1992. The shareholders of Perodua are UMW Corporation Sdn Bhd with 38 percent stake, Toyota (25 percent), MBM Resources Bhd (20 percent), PNB Equity Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd (10 percent) and Mitsui & Co. Ltd (7 percent).
