A spice obtained from the iner bark of the tree. Cinnamon is used in sweet & savory foods, the cinnamon bark is mostly used as a condiment and as a flavoring. In Mexico its known that cinnamon is used for preparing chocolate. In Sri Lanka cinnamon is known as “Kurundu” in singhalese. The word cinnamon comes from the latin word “Cannella”. This spice is native to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malabar coast of India & Burma. Sri Lanka cinnamon has a very thin, smooth bark with a light yellowish brown color & a very highly fragrant aroma.
